Finals Wrap Up

The Finals Series is now over and Belmont FC proudly has a Grand Final winning team in our Over 35’s Friday night team.

We had five teams make the Semi Finals, our U13’s, U17’s All Age G grade and All Age K grade and Over 35’s.

We saw mixed results with:

  • U13’s winning their match 2-1 vs Warners Bay to move into the Preliminary Final
U17’s winning 3-0 against New Lambton earning their place in the Preliminary Final
  • All Age K suffering a loss to Cardiff 5 – 3 which forced them into the Preliminary final after a top 2 finish in the competition
  • All Age G winning 2-1 against South Cardiff and claimed their position in the Grand Final
  • Over 35’s suffering a 2 – 0 loss against Lake Macquarie which forced them into the Preliminary final after a top 2 finish in the competition

Moving into the Preliminary Finals round we lost two teams in the battle with three moving through to the Grand Finals. The results were as follows:

  • U13’s suffered a 3-0 loss to the Kahibah team that went on to win the Grand Final against the previously unbeaten Maitland team.
  • U17’s went down 1-0 against Cooks Hill is what was a close encounter.
  • All Age G had a week off after their win in the Major Semi Final.
  • All Age K won 2-1 against Belswans in a closely battle game.
  • Over 35’s had a 2-0 win over Rutherford to gain their place in the Grand Final.

Into the Grand Final, the three remaining Belmont FC teams were full of hope.

  • The weekend was off to a great start with our Over 35’s claiming victory on Friday night with a 1-0 win over the Lake Macquarie team that had beaten them in the Semi Final 2-0 two weeks earlier. This was Belmont FC’s first win over Lake Macquarie in the season.
  • Unfortunately our All Age G were not able to continue with the winning ways for Belmont FC on the receiving end of a 4-0 loss against a tough South Cardiff side on Saturday.
  • The unfortunate results continued on Sunday with our All Age K suffering a 2-0 loss to Cardiff.

Belmont FC is proud of all of its team, not only those who made it through to the finals and would like to congratulate all of our teams on a successful season. We look forward to celebrating the season with you at our Presentation Day on Saturday 16th September at Marks Oval, and then call upon you to come along to the AGM on Monday 18th September at Jewels Tavern. At the AGM you may just attend to hear how the club has gone throughout the season or you can nominate to fulfill a position in the club moving towards and through the 2018 season, with our current President stepping down from the committee we need more volunteers and there are many positions available.

Newcastle Permanent Coach of the Month Winner

The July Newcastle Permanent Coach of the Month Award recipient in the Macquarie Zone is Belmont FC’s Dennis Kennedy. Congratulations to Dennis for receiving the great honor.

Dennis received this awards as Dennis has his team, a team of boys with varying skill levels performing at their best. Dennis is always encouraging, gives everyone a go and best of all ensures that the kids have a great deal of fun in both training and game day.

More information about the award

Northern NSW Football (NNSWF) is pleased to announce the Newcastle Permanent Coach of the Month for July 2017 across the zones.

Football enriches character, intelligence, coordination and skill and each season, brave men and women step up to the plate and take on the task of helping our young athletes reach their potential: The Coach.

“Coaches are often the shopfront of our Community Football Clubs,” NNSWF Community Football Manager Peter Haynes commented.

“They can sometimes be the only interaction our players and their parents have with a club.”

Each month, one registered coach from each of NNSWF’s seven Member Zones will be awarded the Newcastle Permanent Community Coach of the Month award.

Each winner will receive a Newcastle Permanent Community Coaching kit consisting of 6 balls, 20 markers, 10 bibs and a whistle, as well as a polo shirt and cap, to assist in fulfilling their roles at their respective club.

At the end of the season, each Zone will nominate one community coach from their pool of winners, to represent their Zone for the opportunity to be named “Newcastle Permanent Community Coach of the Year” announced at NNSWF annual awards night.

“It is coaches like this month’s winners who continue to ensure that their club is a good place to play and that their players are enjoying a positive football experience,” Haynes concluded.

Newcastle Permanent Acting Chief Executive Officer, Terry Millett echoes Haynes sentiments and applauds those who received the award.

“Coaching plays a vital role in developing the skills and attitude of young players, and it is great that Newcastle Permanent can provide the opportunity to recognise the efforts of local coaches who are dedicated to developing their players,” Millett said.

This years AGM is very important as every main committee position will be vacant for the 2018 season.

It is vital to the future of the club that volunteers step up at the AGM for big and small roles, REMEMBER no volunteers, no club.

We need to elect a President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary on the night.
