Belmont FC Champions

post

After having lost just one game all season Belmont FC’s U12’s could be considered unlucky to only have finished in 2nd place just 2 points behind Southern Lakes. With a goal difference that belittled the other teams in the competition (81 goals for and just 6 against) the Belmont side went into their Grand Final full of hope and confidence and a belief that they could win, but it was never going to be an easy task.

We reached out to the coach, Clynt, and this is what he had to say, “It was a day those kids will never forget! A hard fought back and forth football match [we were] missing one of the star defenders [and] the team rose to the challenge I laid out for them, to just play. To play for themselves, to play for each other, to simply enjoy the game they love!! They went down early in the 1st half shipping in a single goal managing to hold the score into the 2nd half where we came alive equalling early on. Both teams couldn’t be separated in extra time so to penalty shoot out it went. With the smallest goal keeper in the competition he stood tall and then dove to his left to make his 1st save! We score our 1st shot. They scored the 2nd shot. We missed our 2nd. With our brave keeper standing up saving the 3rd shot. We scored our 3rd they score their 4th so do we. For the 5th and last our brave boy stands tall and saves another incredible shot!! His brother stepping up slotting away our 5th making it 4-2… the team chasing after the keeper with a big stacks on!! They all played with heart… what a day.”

What a day indeed. Congratulations to the players, the volunteers and the families enduring what has been a tough year and coming out on top.

post

After a disruption riddled 2022 regular season, Belmont FC will be represented in the finals series by 3 teams out of just 5 competition sides which is a great achievement.

Well done to those teams that have made the finals and we encourage our community to get out and support those teams still competing.

No games today

post

Unfortunately due to the moisture in the air the grounds have been deemed too wet for any games today 23/07/2022.
We were hoping to get the Miniroos on but then fields are even too unsafe for them.

U6 – U9 Games to go ahead – Saturday 23 July 2022

post

Most games are cancelled for our home games tomorrow, EXCEPT MiniRoo’s u6’s, u7’s, u8’s and u9’s.

All other grades (u10’s-18′) are cancelled due to the grounds being too soft

However, if we get more rain overnight, these games may be cancelled. Please check the wet weather website.

Please know that the committee is doing everything we can to get your kids on a field, any field, to play. This has just been the wettest season to date 😢

Congratulations Zachary Rouse

We would like to congratulate Zachary Rouse who has been selected to represent Macquarie Football at the Northern NSW Football Community State Youth Championships which start today.

All the best Zachary and enjoy every moment.

Shoosh for Kids

post

Join us as we Shoosh for Kids this May guided by the idea “If you can’t say anything nice at kids’ football, don’t say anything”.

About Shoosh for Kids

Shoosh for Kids is a collaborative effort between the Office of Sport and sector partners, including Northern NSW Football, to promote positive behaviour at kids sport.

We all want community football to be a positive place while addressing issues which arise from poor behaviour including:

  • Abuse of officials
  • Reduced volunteer numbers
  • Reduced participation rates (due to poor experiences/ non-enjoyment/ too competitive)

How you can help

This May play it positive at kids’ football by:

Encouraging fair play

  • Cheer and acknowledge good play by both teams.
  • Thank the official, coach and other team after the game.

Respecting officials, coaches and opponents

  • Accept decisions by officials – they are human and can make mistakes.
  • Deal with issues in a controlled and professional manner after the game.

Keeping your emotions in check

  • Be enthusiastic, but don’t scream instructions from the sideline.
  • Don’t get into shouting matches with anyone.
  • Never use bad language or harass others.
  • Uphold your club’s code of conduct.

Help kids enjoy sport

  • Emphasise trying hard and having fun, not only winning.
  • Never ridicule or yell at a child for making a mistake.
